In the news: Davy Jones has died, at 66, of a heart attack.
I remember The Monkees. They were the highlight in the string of mindless Saturday morning cartoons we felt compelled to watch. The Monkees was different. The Monkees had real people; they had Davy Jones, the heart-throb, the cute one, the nice one. The Monkees was my first vinyl album, from my brother; I think I was eleven.
It leaves an impression. So long, Davy Jones.
